AMD has accelerated its work on new desktop processors based on the Zen 6 architecture. Accordingly, some interesting details about the new Ryzen models have emerged. According to the details in the forums, Zen 6 will be developed with TSMC’s 2nm process and will be released in 2026.

Sources familiar with AMD’s plans have revealed new details of the company’s Zen 6 architecture. Accordingly, AMD plans to finalize the Zen 6 design by next quarter. Although unconfirmed, the desktop processors will come on a 2nm process for high-end performance and efficiency.

Leaked information showed that there will be three versions of the Zen 6 series: Standard, Dense Classic and Client Dense. The Standard option will include performance and efficiency cores. Dense models will come with high cores more suitable for cloud computing operations.

On the other hand, it is rumored that the company will not use the Zen 5 design with Zen 6. For this, it was claimed that it will switch to a completely new memory controller. The flagship processors will reportedly support 64 PCIe 5.0, 32 PCIe 6.0 and DDR5-6400 RAM.

Zen 6 will allegedly provide a similar boost to the upgrade experienced years ago with the Zen 2 architecture. Zen 2, released in 2019, was developed on the 7nm process. It provided a major upgrade over the first generation of 14nm Zen.

Zen 6-based desktop processors are expected in 2026. That means it’s a few years away. However, the use of TSMC’s 2nm process is likely to require innovation in cooling solutions.
